  • Did you know that ancient chicken bones can serve as time capsules? An international team of scientists has used these time capsules to reveal the surprising evolutionary history of Marek’s disease virus (MDV). This virus causes tumors and high mortality in unvaccinated chickens. MDV costs the global poultry industry a staggering $1 billion annually, and its evolution provides insights into preventing other costly pandemics like COVID-19.

  • BraiNY's inaugural SciArt event showcased the intersection of science and art through collaborative pairs of artists and scientists. Over three days, the event featured interdisciplinary collaborations and innovative creations, exploring the roots of SciArt and creating synergistic visualizations and interactive narratives. Participants reflected upon the ethical implications of scientific pursuits and connected individual perspectives with societal attitudes. The synergetic creations exemplified interdisciplinary dialogue and engaged broader audiences for SciArt.
